Spiritual May Day Bouquet – A Prayer is Answered

lourdesgrottoeveningMy favorite month!  It is the month of “Mary” – the month of the Blessed Mother, also knows as Our Lady of Lourdes.

Today, my husband and our thirteen-year old daughter arrived in Lourdes, France to volunteer for the International Order of Malta’s annual pilgrimage.  It is a journey where they will support a group of Malades (French word for sick and dying) who are seeking understanding, great faith, deep healing.  Each year, my husband (aka Mr. Knight)  packs in his suitcase a “Spiritual May Day Bouquet,” a large envelope filled with beautiful and deeply personal letters of prayers, intentions, dreams and hopes from our friends.  Mr. Knight delivers this prayer-filled package to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Last year, our friend, Annie included her wish for motherhood.  She and her husband had tried to have a baby for 5 years.  A few months after her prayer was delivered, Annie received her miracle of pregnancy.  She gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Rachel, on February 11, 2013, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes.  A Sign? Happenstance?  A Fluke? Coincidence?  Maybe it is as simple as an answer, a blessing, from the “ beautiful lady in white,”  Our Lady of Lourdes.  A day to believe in miracles.  A day to remember Prayers Work.
