The Labyrinth: Step into Your Own Interior Space

The sacred door to the labyrinth beckons one to experience a journey into oneself.  It is not a puzzle of pieces; there is only one decision to make: to enter or not.  Consider it a walking meditation allowing you to let go of issues or to find clarity.

Labyrinths have been around for centuries and represent a spiritual journey of intuition and consciousness.  With its many twists and turns there is not a “right way” or a “wrong way” to walk. There are no decisions to make other than to enter,  to walk the path to the center, and return on your own timing.  It is your mystical journey.

I love to walk a labyrinth a few times a year, and I often go with friends.  Before I enter, I make an intention with Spirit.  For example, it could be a prayer of clarity or an intention of peace.  When I start my walk, I bring my awareness to my steps (I walk barefooted).  I am mindful of the pace and the sureness of my steps, as well as the depth of my breath, thoughts and feelings.  When I reach the center, I offer up my intention to Spirit as a prayer and let it go.  I seem to walk a little lighter on the way out.  At a minimum, it releases tension and creates a little peace for me.

There are wonderful labyrinths all over the United States and in the world.  I encourage you to find one near you to experience the blessings of stepping into your own interior space.
